SP leaders challenge Amit Shah over Uttar Pradesh law and order

Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav questioned the Union Home Minister regarding crimes against women and Dalits in Uttar Pradesh.

Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav on Saturday questioned Union Home Minister Amit Shah regarding crimes against women and Dalits in Uttar Pradesh, according to the Deccan Chronicle.

Yadav said the Home Minister should look into why women face injustice in the state, why murders occur, and why the Dalit community is among the worst affected.

The Samajwadi Party also responded to claims made by Shah on Friday that the BJP government in Uttar Pradesh is firmly established and cannot be dislodged.

Party MP Awadhesh Prasad rejected Shah's comparison of the BJP's position to "Angad's foot", stating that the foot has already been uprooted.

Prasad cited BJP setbacks in recent Legislative Council elections in Varanasi, Lucknow, Agra and Prayagraj to challenge the assertion.

Prasad also noted that in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the SP won 37 seats and the Congress won six, giving the I.N.D.I.A. bloc 43 of Uttar Pradesh's 80 seats.
