Protests must serve national interest, says RSS leader Sunil Ambekar
RSS national publicity in-charge Sunil Ambekar urged people to stay alert against anti-national forces exploiting public demonstrations.
Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) national publicity in-charge Sunil Ambekar said on Saturday that demonstrations must be conducted with the national interest in mind. Speaking to the media in Indore, Ambekar stated that while people have the right to raise issues through protests, they must aim to move the nation forward.
The remarks came ahead of a three-day RSS national meeting starting on Monday, November 2. The gathering is expected to include 408 functionaries, such as RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat and general secretary Dattatreya Hosabale.
Ambekar said the meeting would likely address organisational changes before the election year, centenary-year programmes, drugs, and other national issues. He also noted that plans to expand global outreach would be discussed.
Regarding the recent Gen-Z protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar, Ambekar said citizens are free to raise questions about country-wide issues. He stated that the RSS should not be viewed as taking sides on matters raised by the public.
On the University Grants Commission (UGC) regulations controversy, Ambekar said the RSS had previously called the circular imbalanced. He noted that the government and UGC had acknowledged concerns and the court had stayed the implementation of the regulations.
Ambekar stressed that a single circular should not disrupt social harmony. He added that the government must ensure any future developments on the issue remain balanced to keep society united.
