BJP leader demands White Paper on litigated government land in Telangana

Gudur Narayana Reddy wants district-wise details of disputed public properties following a Supreme Court judgment regarding land in Miyapur.

Senior BJP leader Gudur Narayana Reddy has called for the state government to publish a detailed White Paper regarding all public and government lands currently involved in legal disputes across Telangana, according to reports by The Hindu and Deccan Chronicle.

Narayana Reddy said the Supreme Court's October 29 judgment, which upheld state ownership of about 550 acres in Miyapur, highlighted the scale of public property tied up in long-term legal battles. He requested that the document include district-wise information such as survey numbers, land extent, the year litigation began, the relevant court or tribunal, the current stage of proceedings, and any interim orders.

Citing a review by the Hyderabad District Collector, the BJP leader noted that 238 court cases involve roughly 12 lakh square yards of government land. This figure represents more than half of the Hyderabad district's total government land bank of 21.74 lakh square yards.

Narayana Reddy stated that Shaikpet mandal has the highest number of disputes with approximately 50. He also mentioned that nearly 7,000 cases regarding Revenue department matters and Section 22-A prohibited property lists are pending, mostly before the High Court.

The leader further noted that the Waqf Board is facing about 5,500 disputes in various judicial forums. He identified high-value land disputes continuing in Manchirevula, Kukatpally, and Kancha Gachibowli.
