BJP worker injured in factional clash in North 24 Parganas
A Bharatiya Janata Party worker sustained serious injuries during a confrontation between two groups in West Bengal on Friday night.
A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) worker, identified as Karan Sheth, was seriously injured during a clash between two factions in West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district, according to The Hindu.
The incident occurred late on Friday near Mamata Medical Hall, close to the Titagarh police station. The confrontation happened after a Bijoya Sammilani gathering held by the local BJP mandal.
One faction alleged that its members were attacked by another group once the programme concluded. This led to a clash that caused tension in the area, a senior police officer said on Saturday.
Police personnel arrived at the location to disperse the warring groups and restore normalcy. The officer stated that the police had to chase the groups away to bring the situation under control.
Karan Sheth was initially taken to B.N. Bose Hospital in Barrackpore. BJP sources said he was later moved to Sagar Dutta Hospital in Kamarhati as his condition worsened.
