Apple to launch touchscreen MacBook Pro and OLED iPad mini in India in November

Five new Apple devices, including an M6-powered iMac, will arrive in the Indian market this month.

Apple will launch five new devices in India this November, including its first touchscreen MacBook Pro models and an OLED-equipped iPad mini, according to Mathrubhumi. Three products are scheduled to arrive on November 6, while the two touchscreen MacBook Pro models will go on sale on November 9. Pre-orders for all five products opened on October 28.

The new iPad mini features an 8.5-inch OLED screen, an A20 Pro chip, a 12MP Centre Stage front camera, and Apple Intelligence support. It will be available in Midnight and Starlight colours. The updated iMac includes the M6 chip, a 24-inch 4.5K Retina display, Wi-Fi 7, and Bluetooth 6.

In India, the iMac base model is priced at ₹1,74,900, while the higher configuration is ₹1,99,900.

Apple has introduced a 14-inch MacBook Pro with an M6 chip and a 16.3-inch touchscreen MacBook Pro powered by M5 Pro or M5 Max chips. The 14-inch model features a Liquid Retina XDR display, while the larger model uses a PROLED XDR display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The touchscreen MacBook Pro starts at ₹3,49,900.

Analysts noted that the touchscreen feature brings MacBooks closer to Windows devices. Faisal Kawoosa, chief analyst at Techarc, said changing user behaviour is a reason for adopting touch interfaces. Ashweej Aithal, senior analyst at Omdia, said touch could make creative work more intuitive but noted Windows laptops already offer the feature.

Bharath Shenoy, principal analyst at IDC India, expects the device to appeal to filmmakers and designers but believes it may remain a niche product in India due to pricing.
