Next generation Kia Sonet spotted during high altitude testing
Spy shots from Harsh VLOGS show the upcoming sub-4m SUV undergoing tests in a high altitude region.
The next generation Kia Sonet has been spotted undergoing testing in a high altitude region, according to a report by RushLane. The sub-4m SUV was seen in the Himalayan region, suggesting that Kia India has commenced testing in both domestic and foreign markets.
The test mule was covered in fabric-type camouflage to hide its identity. The vehicle appears to be a generational change rather than a facelift, featuring significant changes to the platform, basic structure, and sheet metal.
The revised front fascia includes a split headlight design where the LED daytime running lights are positioned above the actual headlamps. The bonnet appears to be a clamshell unit, and the vehicle is equipped with 360-degree cameras and a dedicated camera for ADAS.
At the rear, the vehicle features a new tail light signature where the lights are not connected. The high-mount stop light also appears wider than the current model. The SUV may offer Level-2 ADAS and could include a dual 12.3-inch screen dashboard.
The next generation Sonet is expected to use the same powertrains as the current model, including a 1.2L 4-cylinder NA petrol, a 1.0L 3-cylinder turbo petrol, and a 1.5L 4-cylinder turbo diesel engine. The launch could happen in 2027.
