LG Manoj Sinha inaugurates 1,416 flats for PM Package employees
The residential complexes in Zewan, Budgam and Kupwara aim to support the return of Kashmiri Pandit families to the Valley.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha inaugurated 1,416 residential flats for migrant Kashmiri Pandit PM Package employees across three locations in the Kashmir Valley on Sunday, according to The New Indian Express.
The newly opened complexes include 936 flats at Zewan near Srinagar, 192 flats at Kakan Maran in Budgam and 288 flats at Kulangam Bagh in Kupwara.
Sinha stated that the return of Kashmiri Pandit families is essential to reclaiming the historical heritage and human dignity of the region.
He remarked that the Valley lacks a vital part of its soul without the contribution of Pandits to its cultural and spiritual splendour.
The broader transit accommodation project involves 6,000 sanctioned flats across 20 locations in 10 districts, with over 5,200 flats already constructed.
Of these, more than 3,800 flats have been allotted to employees. Additional Chief Secretary (Public Works R&B) Anil Kumar Singh said the remaining flats would be finished by December this year.
