Rajasthan: IAS officer and IPS wife issued show cause notices

The Rajasthan government has asked senior officials Shikhar Agrawal and Prashakha Mathur to clarify details regarding their immovable assets within seven days.

The Rajasthan government issued show cause notices to senior IAS officer Shikhar Agrawal and his wife, IPS officer Prashakha Mathur, on October 30. According to The Indian Express, both officers have been placed on Awaiting Posting Order for administrative reasons.

The Department of Personnel notices state that no immovable property was declared in the online statements submitted by the officers since 2021. However, communications were submitted to the state government regarding immovable property transactions involving them that occurred after 2021.

The officers have been asked to provide a full clarification on this matter within seven days. Agrawal, a 1993-batch Rajasthan-cadre IAS officer, has also been asked to provide a comprehensive clarification regarding details published in newspapers.

The Rajasthan Anti-Corruption Bureau has registered a preliminary inquiry case against Agrawal and his wife regarding allegations involving their immovable assets. The government approved an ACB investigation after the bureau indicated prima facie evidence of alleged collusion between Agrawal and a private firm.

Agrawal previously held portfolios as the Additional Chief Secretary. He has served in departments including Industries, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), State Enterprises, and the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor.
