Cybercrime-related financial losses in Telangana decreased by 20.2 per cent during the first nine months of 2026 compared to the same period last year, according to the Deccan Chronicle.
Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB) director Shikha Goel said reported losses fell from ₹1,104.42 crore between January and September 2025 to ₹881.72 crore in the same period in 2026. This represents a reduction of ₹222.70 crore.
While losses fell, the amount placed under lien in suspected fraudulent bank accounts rose by 42.2 per cent, increasing from ₹183.11 crore to ₹260.30 crore. Police stated this ₹77.19 crore increase reflected quicker reporting and coordinated financial intervention.
The TGCSB concluded its Cyber Security Awareness Month in October with statewide night flash walks and public outreach. The bureau said it has conducted 24,886 awareness programmes up to October, reaching 15,48,905 citizens.
Goel said the bureau will intensify cyber awareness using advanced technology throughout the year, focusing on emerging fraud methods and vulnerable groups. She advised the public not to share OTPs, PINs, or passwords and to report fraud by calling 1930.
