Gujarat CM inaugurates new cancer hospital in Patan
The P.B. Patan Janata Cancer Hospital will provide free PET scans to Ayushman Bharat cardholders.
Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel inaugurated the P.B. Patan Janata Cancer Hospital in Patan on Sunday, according to reports by The Hawk and The Times of India.
The facility, which is operated by the Jeevan Jyot Charitable Trust, includes a Linear Accelerator (LINAC) machine for radiotherapy costing approximately Rs 22 crore.
The hospital is introducing Positron Emission Tomography (PET) scan services, a facility previously unavailable in North Gujarat. These scans will be provided at no cost to Ayushman Bharat cardholders.
Patel stated that the hospital would help bridge the gap in specialised cancer treatment and reduce the necessity for patients in the region to travel to Ahmedabad.
Dr Pramodbhai Patel, managing trustee of Jeevan Jyot Charitable Trust, said the hospital has previously handled more than 15 lakh outpatient consultations and over 1.5 lakh inpatients.
The trust plans to expand its super-speciality services in the future to include robotic surgery, cardiac surgery, and bone marrow and kidney transplantation.
