Pakistan will consider issuing visa to Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann

The Pakistani government said on Friday it would consider granting a visa to Aam Aadmi Party leader Bhagwant Mann if he wishes to visit.

Pakistan has stated it would consider issuing a visa to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann if the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader wishes to visit the country, according to The Tribune and WION.

Pakistan Foreign Office Spokesperson Sajjad Haider Khan made the remarks during a weekly media briefing on Friday. He clarified that whether the Indian government permits Mann to travel to Pakistan is a separate matter.

Mann was previously invited to attend the World Punjabi Conference in Lahore on November 27. On October 23, Mann told the Punjab Assembly that he had received the invitation but questioned if he would be allowed to travel.

The Chief Minister noted that the culture of both sides is the same and mentioned that many poets from India would go to Pakistan. He also expressed a desire for all Punjab Assembly legislators to visit Kartarpur Sahib if the Kartarpur Corridor reopens.

The corridor, which connects Dera Baba Nanak in India's Punjab with Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Pakistan, has been closed to pilgrim movement from the Indian side since May 7, 2025. This followed missile strikes launched by India after the Pahalgam terror attack.

Khan said Pakistan remains committed to facilitating religious visits and welcomed pilgrims of all faiths. He noted that Pakistan issued more than 9,000 visas to Indian religious pilgrims in 2025.
