BJP and TMC spar after attack on Abhishek Banerjee's house
Trinamool Congress leader Abhishek Banerjee alleged BJP workers attacked his residence at 2 am on Saturday.
Trinamool Congress (TMC) National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee alleged that his Kolkata residence was attacked by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers at approximately 2 am on Saturday, according to the Times of India. Banerjee, a three-term Diamond Harbour MP, claimed the incident occurred while TMC workers were gathered to celebrate his birthday.
The MP alleged that the attack involved stone-pelting, vandalism, and the use of sticks fitted with nails. He stated that four to five supporters sustained serious injuries, including one person requiring plastic surgery and another suffering a fracture. Banerjee further claimed that unidentified individuals had been conducting reconnaissance of his office and residence for two days prior to the incident.
Banerjee accused the Kolkata Police of failing to prevent the attack and criticised the Calcutta High Court and the Supreme Court for remaining

while stating this was the seventh attempt on his life in the last six months. He has called for an inquiry by the Lok Sabha Speaker, the Union Home Ministry, and the West Bengal Police to uncover the motive behind the suspected conspiracy.
West Bengal Minister Dilip Ghosh dismissed the allegations, questioning who would want to kill the TMC leader. Ghosh said the incident was a backlash to a disturbance and accused the TMC of attempting to mislead people. The Kolkata Police have confirmed an investigation is underway and have clamped prohibitory orders following the clashes.
