Nitesh Tiwari says Ravana-Jatayu fight sequence took six and a half years

The filmmaker revealed that thousands of people worked on the action sequence for his upcoming mythological film Ramayana.

Filmmaker Nitesh Tiwari stated that the battle sequence between Ravana and Jatayu in his film Ramayana took six and a half years to complete. According to a report by The Times of India, the director noted that thousands of artists and technicians were involved in the process.

Tiwari said in an interview with Shreyas Media that the time elapsed from his initial briefing of the previous artist to the completion of the sequence was six and a half years. He mentioned that everything was made from scratch.

The production also spent nearly two years finalising the design of the Pushpak Viman, the flying vehicle featured in the epic. The team reportedly explored between 40 and 50 designs before arriving at the final version.

Tiwari explained that the final design of the vehicle was different from the team's original vision. Because the Ravana-Jatayu battle was initially conceptualised around an earlier version of the vehicle, the filmmakers had to rework several aspects of the sequence.

The director said the team wanted to include science in the design of the Pushpak Viman. He stated that the team did not want something that simply looked like it could fly, as they believe there was science behind the events of that time.
