TGSWREIS to use School Education department staff for inspections

Teachers have raised concerns regarding the ability of peers with the same cadre to accurately evaluate their academic and administrative performance.

The Telangana Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society (TGSWREIS) plans to use officials and teachers from the School Education department to conduct inspections at its institutions, according to Telangana Today.

A circular issued by the TGSWREIS requested the Director of School Education to instruct department staff to join inspection panels. These panels will evaluate classroom performance, teaching methods, student involvement, and notebook corrections.

The inspections will also cover the implementation of various programmes, including coding, computing, French language, Project Sampoorna, NSF, Mindspark, Voice for Girls, Voice for Boys, Mission Prakruthi, and Physics Wala.

Beyond academics, the panels are tasked with checking food quality, sanitation, drinking water, student provisions, and safety and security within the institutions.

TGSWREIS teachers have objected to the plan, arguing that staff of the same designation and cadre may not provide accurate assessments. One Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT) questioned how a school assistant could assess a TGT, noting that residential school operations differ from day-scholar schools.

Following the process, teachers will be graded out of 100 marks based on lesson planning, communication, and student learning levels. A review meeting will then be held to discuss individual strengths and shortcomings.
