Deputy CM Surinder Choudhary criticises BJP over Ram Madhav's visit
The Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister remarked that the BJP's lotus symbol does not bloom throughout the entire year.
Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary on Tuesday criticised the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) regarding the visit of its leader Ram Madhav to the Union Territory. According to the Daily Excelsior, Choudhary remarked that every flower has its own season.
Choudhary told reporters that winter is approaching and suggested that the lotus will bloom, wither, and go. When asked about the visit of the BJP National Vice-President, the Deputy Chief Minister said he was unaware of Madhav's specific schedule or whether he intended to meet media personnel or political leaders.
The visit by Madhav occurs as Srinagar Lok Sabha member Syed Aga Ruhullah Mehdi resigned from the National Conference (NC). Mehdi accused the NC leadership of failing to deliver on election promises, such as the restoration of Article 370.
During an 80-minute speech to supporters, Mehdi, who won the 2024 Lok Sabha election representing the NC, suggested he might establish a new political group in the region. This follows reports of disagreement among NC legislators after a recent Cabinet expansion.
Choudhary stated that political developments in the Union Territory are moving smoothly and added that he did not believe it was the appropriate time for such discussions.
