BJP Karnataka chief Vijayendra apologises for remarks against Congress leaders
The apology follows a poster campaign targeting the leader at his father's Bengaluru residence.
BJP Karnataka president B Y Vijayendra apologised on Tuesday for comments made against Congress functionaries in the state. According to the Deccan Chronicle, Vijayendra stated he spoke out of anger and did not intend to cause offence.
The apology came after a poster criticising Vijayendra was placed on the compound wall of the Bengaluru residence of his father, former Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa. Staff members later removed the poster, which appeared to be in response to his recent statements.
Speaking to reporters in Kolar, Vijayendra said he admitted to using specific language during a press conference in Davanagere. He explained that his frustration stemmed from youth unemployment and the Congress government's management of the reservation issue.
The BJP leader accused the state government of failing to defend reservation matters before the Karnataka High Court and failing to initiate reforms regarding the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC).
Vijayendra previously claimed at the Davanagere press conference that the government had acted with deceit and failed to properly present its case in court. He stated that his agitation was a reaction to the government's handling of issues affecting marginalised communities.
