Jammu: Government offices to reopen on November 2 for Darbar Move
The Civil Secretariat and other administrative offices will reopen in Jammu on Monday after six months of functioning in Srinagar.
The Jammu administration is set to reopen the Civil Secretariat and other government offices on Monday, marking the return of the Darbar Move. According to The Tribune, the move follows six months of government functioning in Srinagar.
The Civil Secretariat, which houses the offices of the Chief Minister and ministers, has undergone renovation and maintenance. Government buildings and residential accommodation for employees have also been renovated to facilitate their stay for the next six months.
The administration has completed various civic works in Jammu, including road repairs, blacktopping, and cleaning footpaths. Security has been strengthened with police and paramilitary personnel deployed in key areas and along vital installations.
Offices following a five-day work week closed in Srinagar on October 30, while those on a six-day schedule ceased functioning after office hours on October 31. Convoys carrying employees have already arrived in the city.
The Omar Abdullah-led government restored the Darbar Move in October 2025, fulfilling an electoral promise. The tradition was previously discontinued in 2021 by the Lieutenant Governor-led administration to save expenditure and transition to e-office.
