Ayodhya Deepotsav creates livelihood opportunities for locals, says Yogi Adityanath

The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister stated that the festival provides economic momentum for potters, farmers, and small traders.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said on Monday that the annual Deepotsav celebrations in Ayodhya are providing economic momentum for local workers, farmers, and small traders. According to reports by Hindustan Times and The Assam Tribune, the Chief Minister noted that the festival strengthens religious faith while creating new business avenues.

Speaking via a post on the social media platform X, Adityanath said that every earthen lamp lit during the event represents the labour of a potter and the produce of a farmer. He stated that the grand festival, which uses lakhs of lamps, provides fresh livelihood opportunities for families.

The Chief Minister alleged that prior to 2017, there was a lack of vision to connect Ayodhya's cultural potential with the prosperity of local artisans. He claimed the BJP-led double-engine government has addressed this absence of economic opportunities linked to the city's religious identity.

Adityanath, who mentioned receiving guidance from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, said the celebrations create work for labourers and small traders. He added that the lamps illuminating the city also bring hope for prosperity to the homes of hardworking families.

While addressing a gathering in Gonda district, the Chief Minister announced he will visit Ayodhya on November 7 for the 10th edition of Deepotsav. He claimed that the development seen in Gonda is a result of the state government's broader vision.
