Minister Madhu Bangarappa questions BJP over milk price hike protest
The Shivamogga district in-charge Minister asked if the BJP was protesting against farmers benefiting from the price increase.
Shivamogga district in-charge Minister Madhu Bangarappa questioned the reasons behind the BJP's protest against the recent milk price hike, according to the Deccan Herald.
Speaking to media persons on Saturday, Bangarappa asked if the BJP was protesting against farmers. He stated that milk producers receive Rs 7 per litre from the price hike.
The Minister said BJP leaders are unhappy that farmers would benefit from the increase. He noted that while consumers might be affected, milk prices in Karnataka remain the lowest in the country and have not been hiked for the last decade.
Bangarappa also pointed out that the price of petrol had been hiked by the Union government. Regarding sugarcane farmers, he said the Centre must announce a minimum support price so the State government can assist them.
Additionally, the Minister directed officials to take steps to fill vacant doctor posts in Hosanagar and various other taluks across the district.
