Sreenidi Deccan edge Rajasthan United to start IFL season with win

Sreenidi Deccan FC secured a 1-0 win against Rajasthan United to begin the Indian Football League 2026-27 season on Sunday, 01 November 2026. The match was played at the Vidhyadhar Nagar Stadium in Jaipur, according to reports by Hindustan Times, ThePrint and Telangana Today.
Nishu Kumar scored the decisive goal for the Deccan Warriors in the 66th minute. Before the goal, David Castañeda hit the crossbar for Sreenidi Deccan just before the drinks break, while P. Christopher Kamei also struck the crossbar for Rajasthan United after the second half began.
Sreenidi Deccan midfielder Adriano Castanheira played a role in the winning goal by laying the ball to David Castañeda, who then passed to the overlapping Nishu Kumar. The full-back finished the move with a curled shot into the far corner.
Rajasthan United players Foday Trawally and Ricky Vanlalhriatsanga also had chances to score but missed the target. Brazilian Diego Maurício came close to equalising when his powerful right-footed shot narrowly missed the post.
Sreenidi Deccan goalkeeper Amrit Gope made two crucial saves to deny David Castañeda and Brandon Vanlalremdika. The Hyderabad-based side held on to protect their lead and secure three points to start the season.
