Fear has no place in my dictionary, says Gautam Gambhir

India head coach Gautam Gambhir praised his players for handling pressure after the team won the T20I series against New Zealand 3-2.

India head coach Gautam Gambhir stated that fear is not part of his vocabulary after the team secured a 3-2 T20I series victory against New Zealand. According to the Times of India, Gambhir spoke at a post-series press conference in New Delhi following the win.

Gambhir praised the players for managing difficult situations, specifically noting their ability to win the opening match despite a heavy travel schedule and minimal practice. He said the team's response to pressure was commendable.

The series saw India take an unassailable lead by winning the first three matches, though New Zealand won the final two encounters. Gambhir noted that the team embraced pressure rather than retreating from it.

When asked about the availability of wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant, Gambhir said he did not have an update yet but would share information when it became available. His comments left Pant's immediate status uncertain.

India captain Shreyas Iyer identified bowling and fielding as areas for improvement after the team lost the final two games. Iyer said the team was a bit sloppy but viewed the tour as a significant learning curve.

Iyer explained that the first three victories allowed the team to study their rhythm, while the final two games provided an opportunity to experiment and challenge themselves.
