Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah marries journalist Nidhi Razdan
The marriage was solemnised under the Special Marriage Act on Friday in New Delhi.
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah married journalist Nidhi Razdan on Friday, according to reports by Hindustan Times, India Today and The New Indian Express.
The 56-year-old Chief Minister announced the news on social media on Saturday, stating that a new journey had begun. Razdan, 49, confirmed the development on X, writing, "It's done bro."
The marriage was solemnised under the Special Marriage Act in New Delhi. Family members and close relatives from both sides attended the functions in Srinagar and New Delhi, including Omar Abdullah's parents, Farooq Abdullah and Mollie, and Nidhi Razdan's parents, M K Razdan and Sarla Razdan.
This is the second marriage for both. Omar Abdullah was previously married to Payal Abdullah in 1994, and the couple had two sons, Zahir and Zamir. The Supreme Court granted a divorce to the couple in July after they reached a mutual settlement.
The marriage announcement follows a period of internal dissent within the National Conference after a recent Cabinet reshuffle. According to The New Indian Express, at least 20 legislators held a meeting in Srinagar on Friday to discuss the reshuffle and other party matters.
