UFC chief Dana White declines Donald Trump's press secretary offer

The US President proposed that several mixed martial arts fighters join White White House briefing room as assistants.

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) chief executive Dana White has declined an offer from US President Donald Trump to serve as the White House press secretary, according to a report by the Economic Times citing CNN.

The offer was made by President Trump on Saturday through a post on his Truth Social platform. Trump described White as a fighter and warrior and urged him to take the role.

In the same post, Trump suggested that mixed martial arts fighters Islam Makhachev, Khabib Nurmagomedov, Justin Gaethje, Daniel Cormier, Amanda Nunes, and Kayla Harrison could join White's team as assistants. Trump stated these individuals could help his administration defend against the 'Lunatic Left'.

A White House aide indicated that Trump had been joking about the proposal. White House Communications Director Steven Cheung appeared to endorse the suggestion by reposting the message on X.

The administration is currently searching for a new press secretary following the departure of Karoline Leavitt and a five-day stint by Katie Zacharia in the position.
