The minister claimed the former Chief Minister addressed the incident in the Lok Sabha and the Legislative Assembly.
Uttar Pradesh Minister OP Rajbhar on Sunday alleged that the 1990 firing on Kar Sevaks during the Ram Janmabhoomi movement was carried out under the orders of then-Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav, according to ANI.
Rajbhar criticised the Samajwadi Party (SP), stating there is a vast gap between what the party says and what it actually does. He claimed that Mulayam Singh Yadav spoke about the incident in both the Lok Sabha and the Legislative Assembly.
The minister further alleged that senior SP leader Ram Gopal Yadav has acknowledged that the party ordered the firing. He said the head of the Samajwadi Party was the Chief Minister at the time the incident occurred.
These remarks follow a statement by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who asked Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav to apologise to the Kar Sevaks who were fired upon. Addressing an event in Ayodhya, Adityanath said those responsible should express remorse.
Adityanath noted that those who once opened fire on devotees of Lord Ram and lathi-charged saints must apologise if they ever visit Ayodhya. He also mentioned that Ayodhya now has an international airport named after Maharishi Valmiki.
