Democracy not safe in BJP's hands in Bengal, says TMC's Kunal Ghosh

Trinamool Congress leader Kunal Ghosh criticised a BJP march in Kolkata, calling it a response to the opposition's unity in Delhi.

Trinamool Congress (TMC) MLA Kunal Ghosh on Monday criticised a BJP 'Save Democracy' march in Kolkata, describing the protest as a misguided move following the opposition's display of unity at Ramlila Maidan in Delhi, according to ANI.

Ghosh stated that democracy is not secure under the BJP in West Bengal. He alleged that democratic standards were compromised during state elections through the misuse of central machinery and forces.

The TMC leader further claimed that the Election Commission, led by Gyanesh Kumar, oversaw a process where genuine voters were disenfranchised and votes were hijacked. He said the nation is aware of these electoral irregularities.

Addressing the BJP's rally, Ghosh said the slogan 'Save Democracy' was actually the TMC's rallying cry. He suggested the BJP's protest was a sign of panic after the Ramlila Maidan event.

BJP national president Nitin Nabin addressed the 'Loktantra Bachao, Arajakta Hatao' march in Kolkata, claiming the people of the city had already rejected anarchy. Nabin stated that leaders of the INDI bloc who lost in their home states had gathered in Delhi to express despair.

Nabin also directed comments at Rahul Gandhi, telling the Congress leader to learn from his mistakes. He referred to recent electoral outcomes in West Bengal, Delhi, and Bihar during his speech.
