India vs Pakistan match sees more ticket requests than World Cup final

The International Cricket Council reported that demand for the October 10 group stage match has surpassed requests for the tournament final.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has received nearly 8.5 million ticket requests for the India vs Pakistan group stage match at next year's Cricket World Cup in South Africa, according to Al Jazeera.

The match between the South Asian rivals is scheduled for October 10 at the Wanderers cricket ground in Johannesburg. The ICC stated on Monday that the 8.4 million requests for this clash have surpassed the nearly eight million requests for the tournament final on November 21.

Total ticket requests from 2.8 million unique fan accounts across 193 countries exceeded 120 million on Sunday. Applications from India, South Africa, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Australia are leading the registrations.

The tournament will feature 57 matches held at 12 venues across South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia from October 7 to November 21, 2027. This marks the first time the World Cup returns to Africa in 24 years.

The online ticket ballot opened on October 1 and is set to close at midnight Central African Time on November 21.
