Karnataka to hold UK roadshows to boost NRI tourist footfall
The State Tourism Department will participate in the World Travel Market London 2026 to attract Non-Resident Indian tourists back to the state.
The Karnataka State Tourism Department is participating in the World Travel Market (WTM) London 2026 roadshow, scheduled from November 2 to 6, according to The Hindu.
A senior official from the Tourism Department said that the number of Non-Resident Indian (NRI) tourists visiting the state has reduced by more than 50 per cent following the COVID pandemic.
The official stated that NRIs are currently visiting locations such as Bali, Maldives, and Abu Dhabi, and the department aims to revive footfall through these roadshows.
The event will include sessions in Manchester and Birmingham for the first time to promote state tourism to NRIs and tourists from the U.S., Australia, Germany, and London.
Nine people have been selected to participate in the event, where they will use LED screens for audio-visual displays and posters to showcase tourist places in Karnataka.
The team will also explain accommodation facilities, ease of travel, and other options to participants to attract more visitors by the end of this year or the beginning of next year's tourism season.
