Gujarat AAP MLA Chaitar Vasava visits critically ill half brother in Surat
The Dediapada MLA visited his brother in the hospital on Monday after receiving three days of temporary bail from the Supreme Court.
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Chaitar Vasava visited his half brother, Shantilal Vasava, at the New Civil Hospital in Surat on Monday afternoon, according to The Indian Express. Shantilal Vasava was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) after he allegedly attempted to kill himself by consuming pesticide on October 12.
The MLA, who has been in jail since June for alleged assault, met with doctors in the ICU. Doctors informed him that the patient remains critical and is on life support. Vasava was accompanied by police officers and Gujarat AAP general secretary Manoj Sorathiya.
Sorathiya said that Shantilal Vasava's condition is not good and his body is currently not responding to medicines. He stated that the party is working to move Shantilal to Delhi for treatment later this week, with the goal of moving him within the next three days.
Under the conditions of his bail, Vasava must stay in Surat district for the entire duration and must be accompanied by police wherever he goes. He met with Shantilal's wife and sister at the hospital and assured his sister-in-law of help to ensure his recovery.
Vasava was sentenced to seven years’ imprisonment by a sessions court in Rajpipla on June 23 regarding alleged threats, assault, and extortion of Rs 60,000 against forest department officials. He had sought temporary bail from the Supreme Court to visit his brother after a previous one-day bail granted by the Gujarat High Court was deemed impractical for the purpose of the visit.
