South Africa name Test squad for Bangladesh series

Top-order batter Tony de Zorzi and fast bowler Anrich Nortje return to the 15-man squad for the upcoming two-match series.

South Africa has announced its 15-man squad for the two-match Test series against Bangladesh, according to The Hawk. The squad features the return of top-order batter Tony de Zorzi and fast bowler Anrich Nortje.

De Zorzi returns after missing the 2-1 series win against Australia due to a hamstring injury. Nortje was also absent from the later stages of the Australia series after suffering a groin injury during the second Test.

The Proteas have recalled batter Zubayr Hamza, who last played a Test in February 2024, to provide an extra batting option. Several players have been excluded from the squad, including David Bedingham, Kyle Verreynne, Gerald Coetzee, Senuran Muthusamy, and Tristan Stubbs.

The pace attack includes Kagiso Rabada, Marco Jansen, Wiaan Mulder, Corbin Bosch, Dane Paterson, and Nortje, while Simon Harmer and Keshav Maharaj serve as the spin options. Matthew Breetzke remains the backup wicketkeeping option to Ryan Rickelton.

The first Test will begin on November 15 at the Wanderers, followed by the second match at SuperSport Park from November 23 onwards.
