BJP MP Rahul Sinha vows to protect democracy in West Bengal
The Bharatiya Janata Party leader responded to Mamata Banerjee's claims of vote manipulation during a march in Kolkata on Monday.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Member of Parliament Rahul Sinha said on Monday that party members would stop any efforts to weaken democratic institutions in West Bengal. Speaking to ANI during the BJP’s ‘Save Democracy’ march in Kolkata, Sinha stated that democracy cannot be destroyed if BJP workers stay united.
According to The News Mill, Sinha was responding to allegations by former West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee regarding electoral results. Sinha claimed the Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader has lost touch with reality and that her party lost because the people of Bengal no longer wanted to see the TMC in power.
The ‘Loktantra Bachao, Arajakta Hatao’ (Save Democracy, Remove Anarchy) march in Kolkata was led by BJP national president Nitin Nabin, West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, and state BJP president Samik Bhattacharya. The procession included many supporters and national flags.
During the rally, West Bengal Minister Ajay Kumar Poddar alleged that opposition parties in the INDIA bloc and foreign powers are working together to hinder India's progress under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Poddar described these forces as anti-national.
West Bengal Minister Arjun Singh also criticised Mamata Banerjee, suggesting her recent comments stem from frustration. Singh further targeted Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, making remarks regarding the opposition alliance and its members.
