BJD condemns Odisha minister being carried by security officer

The opposition party criticised Panchayati Raj Minister Rabi Narayan Naik for riding on the back of his Personal Security Officer in Kandhamal.

The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Monday criticised the Odisha State Government after images emerged of Panchayati Raj Minister Rabi Narayan Naik being carried on the back of his Personal Security Officer (PSO). The incident took place during a visit to Kandhamal district, according to Pragativadi.

BJD Spokesperson Dr. Lenin Mohanty addressed the media in Bhubaneswar, describing the act as an example of arrogant VIP culture and a breach of human dignity. He said the sight of a minister riding a security guard was troubling for public standards.

Dr. Mohanty claimed the incident shows that those in power are disconnected from ground realities. He further alleged that the state administration is facing internal confusion, apathy, and a lack of coordination.

The opposition party also linked the controversy to administrative failures following Cyclone Arnab. The BJD stated that residents in Ganjam and Gajapati are suffering due to poor official responses and inadequate relief management.

Dr. Mohanty noted that ministers and local representatives are facing public resentment and heckling during field visits instead of providing swift assistance. He urged the State Government to introspect and uphold the dignity of security staff.
