Sukanta Majumdar criticises Mamata Banerjee during BJP march in Kolkata
The Union Minister of State for Education claimed the large turnout at the BJP protest reflected public support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Union Minister of State for Education Sukanta Majumdar criticised former West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and the Opposition on Monday during the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) 'Loktantra Bachao, Arajakta Hatao' march in Kolkata. According to ANI, Majumdar stated that the high attendance at the march showed public support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Majumdar claimed the political standing of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader has declined. He said that people used to call her the 'Tiger of Bengal', but now the 'Tiger' is piggybacking on a 'Cockroach'. He also remarked that Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge was not being listened to by his own party members.
The march was organised to protest against the state government regarding the state of law and order and the weakening of democratic institutions in West Bengal. The procession was led by BJP national president Nitin Nabin, West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, and state BJP chief Samik Bhattacharya.
West Bengal Minister Ajay Kumar Poddar told ANI that foreign powers and opposition parties are working together to obstruct India's progress. He accused those in the INDI Alliance of being anti-national forces that cannot tolerate the direction of the country under the Prime Minister.
West Bengal Minister Arjun Singh also attacked Mamata Banerjee, alleging she makes statements out of frustration. Singh further commented on the relationship between opposition leaders, mentioning Rahul Gandhi.
