Yogi Adityanath urges citizens to join Run for Unity

The Uttar Pradesh chief minister paid tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on National Unity Day.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday paid tribute to the country's first deputy prime minister, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, to mark his birth anniversary. According to Mint, Adityanath also extended greetings for National Unity Day and encouraged people to take part in the Run for Unity.

Describing Patel as the architect of modern India and the Iron Man of India, the chief minister said the leader's life showed that a nation's power comes from its unity. He stated that every Indian has a duty to protect the national unity that Patel worked for.

Adityanath said Patel's dedication to the country inspired the 'Ek Bharat-Shreshtha Bharat' vision. He described the Run for Unity as a chance for citizens to show their commitment to the integrity of the nation.

The chief minister also commented on the political state of Uttar Pradesh prior to 2017. He alleged that casteism, dynastic politics, and appeasement politics had divided society and harmed social harmony in the state.

Adityanath credited the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the state government's governance for changing this situation. He said the government's approach is based on the principle of 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas'.

National Unity Day is observed annually on October 31 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Patel.
