Delhi deploys 10,000 personnel for INDIA bloc rally and BJP march
Security is tightened across the capital as the INDIA bloc holds a rally at Ramlila Maidan and the BJP organises a counter-march.
Nearly 10,000 police and paramilitary personnel, including Delhi Police, Central Armed Police Forces, CRPF, and Rapid Action Force, have been deployed across Central and New Delhi on Sunday. The deployment aims to manage the Congress-led INDIA bloc rally at Ramlila Maidan and a BJP counter-march in West Delhi.
Organisers of the INDIA bloc rally anticipate a gathering of up to 10 lakh people. The protest is aimed at raising allegations of 'vote chori' and demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Top Opposition leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, Mamata Banerjee, and Akhilesh Yadav, are expected to attend.
DCP Central Rohit Rajbir said approximately 250 CCTV cameras have been installed to cover the area. Security agencies are also using drones and AI-enabled facial recognition systems to monitor crowd movement. Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita has been imposed in sensitive areas.
The BJP march is scheduled to begin at 11:30 am from Hari Nagar Bus Depot towards Tilak Nagar Metro Station. Expected participants include Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri and Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. Traffic in West Delhi may also be affected between 9 am and 3 pm.
Delhi Traffic Police has announced diversions in Central Delhi from 10 am to 5 pm. Major diversion points include Rajghat, Delhi Gate, and ITO. Special corridors have been kept clear for emergency vehicles heading towards LNJP Hospital and GB Pant Hospital.
