Karnataka and Assam to face off in Ranji Trophy at Guwahati

Karnataka seeks to maintain momentum against Assam at the ACA Stadium in Barsapara on Monday.

Karnataka will face Assam at the ACA Stadium in Barsapara on Monday, according to reports by Sportstar and The Hindu. Karnataka currently sits fourth in Elite Group B with nine points, while Assam is one place below them with seven points.

Shreyas Gopal will lead the Karnataka side in the absence of Smaran Ravichandran. The team is looking to build on an innings win against Tripura, despite a campaign that included consecutive draws against Andhra and Saurashtra.

Karnataka's batting has seen veteran Karun Nair and a young core among the runs, though more is expected from Mayank Agarwal, who has not yet scored a half-century this season. The middle order includes K.V. Aneesh, wicket-keeper K.S.

Shrijith, and Aneeshwar Gautam.

The Karnataka bowling attack has varied based on conditions, using three pacers against Saurashtra and a three-pronged spin attack against Tripura. Shreyas Gopal, Shikhar Shetty, and Ritesh Bhatkal form the spin unit, while Vyshak Vijaykumar leads the pace attack.

Assam enters the match following a heavy defeat against Saurashtra, having previously drawn against Punjab and defeated Tripura by an innings. Captain Denish Das and Sibsankar Roy have been key batters, while Mukhthar Hussain, Hridip Deka, and Mohit Thakur have taken more than 25 wickets.

No rain is forecast for the four days of play. Due to early sunset, the match schedule has been adjusted to begin at 8:30 AM and conclude at 4:00 PM.
