Fear has no place in my dictionary, says Gautam Gambhir
India head coach Gautam Gambhir praised his players for managing pressure after the team won the T20I series against New Zealand 3-2.
NEW DELHI: India head coach Gautam Gambhir stated that fear is not part of his vocabulary after the team secured a 3-2 T20I series victory against New Zealand. Speaking at a post-series press conference, Gambhir said there is no word like 'dar' in his dictionary and directory.
The former India opener commended the players for their response to difficult situations. He noted that the team won the opening match despite a demanding travel schedule involving a 15-hour flight and only one practice session.
India took an unassailable lead by winning the first three matches, though New Zealand won the final two encounters. Gambhir said the team's ability to embrace pressure was a key factor in the away series win.
When asked about the availability of wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant, Gambhir said he did not have an update yet but would share information when he received it.
Captain Shreyas Iyer acknowledged that the team needed to improve in bowling and fielding. Iyer said the visitors were a bit sloppy in the final two games but described the tour as a great learning curve.
Iyer explained that the first three victories allowed the team to study their rhythm before experimenting and challenging themselves in the last two matches.
