Mohammad Yousuf advises Babar Azam to seek specialised coaching abroad
The former Pakistan captain suggested the batter travel to Australia or South Africa to address technical flaws in his batting.
Former Pakistan captain Mohammad Yousuf has urged Babar Azam to travel to Australia or South Africa to work with specialist coaches. Yousuf said on social media on Sunday that focusing on batting in those locations will help the player.
Yousuf stated that Babar should not play first-class cricket until he fixes technical issues through specialised coaching. He suggested sending the batter to an academy in England or Australia.
The advice follows Babar's performance during Pakistan's run chase against Sri Lanka in the tri-series final on Saturday. Although Pakistan won the tournament, Babar did not make a significant contribution.
Babar is scheduled to represent Lahore in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy from November 3, ahead of a two-Test series against Sri Lanka starting on November 9. Yousuf questioned the decision to play domestic cricket instead of seeking specialised guidance.
The 32-year-old has scored one century in ODIs over the last three years. He has been dropped from Pakistan's T20I setup, while his position in white-ball squads faces scrutiny.
Former Pakistan captain Waqar Younis said on a podcast that Babar had not received necessary support from teammates. Retired all-rounder Imad Wasim defended the batter, noting the level of criticism he faces from media and social media.
