Iran's Mojtaba Khamenei warns of retaliation against US or Israeli attacks

The Supreme Leader told military commanders to prepare an effective response without geographical limits if hostilities are renewed.

Iran's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has ordered the nation's military to provide a swift and strong reaction to any fresh attacks from the US or Israel. He stated that Tehran will decide the timing and terms for ending hostilities.

During a meeting with three senior military commanders, Khamenei called for maximum readiness. He said any threat must face an effective response that has no geographical limits, according to a statement from his office reported by Axios and the Tehran Times.

The meeting included Armed Forces Chief of Staff Major General Ali Abdollahi, Army Commander Major General Amir Hatami, and Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps chief Major General Ahmad Vahidi. The commanders briefed the leader on preparedness regarding the Persian Gulf, the Strait of Hormuz, the Gulf of Oman, and Iran's borders.

Khamenei directed military leaders to update target databases to include all physical and non-physical assets of the US-Zionist enemy. He also called for better military intelligence and the use of new technologies in security infrastructure.

Security official Mohsen Rezaei threatened devastating blows and the use of new weaponry if Iran is attacked. Rezaei noted on X that diplomacy is possible if Washington meets seven conditions, including lifting sanctions and reducing US military presence in the region.

While US Vice-President JD Vance reportedly sent a negotiation framework to Iran, US President Donald Trump said Washington could strike remaining nuclear facilities. Trump described Tehran as not very reliable despite saying discussions were going well.
