Iran and Qatari mediators hold third day of talks in Doha
Negotiators are discussing a proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz within 48 hours of a possible deal with Washington.
Iranian negotiators and Qatari mediators met in Doha on Sunday for a third consecutive day of discussions to end the war involving the US, Israel, and Iran, according to reports by Times Now and ThePrint.
The talks involve a proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz within two days of reaching an agreement with the United States. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said the discussions are progressing, though no final conclusion has been reached.
Araghchi stated that Tehran is prepared for both diplomacy and defence. He also described a letter from Vice President JD Vance seeking dialogue as a positive step.
The mediation follows more than 12 hours of talks in Tehran on Friday, where Qatari officials met with Iranian representatives, according to Outlook.
US President Donald Trump said the United States will not launch new attacks on Iran before the November 3 midterm elections, though he has not ruled out military action later. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Saturday that Trump prefers a diplomatic resolution but has not decided on new strikes.
Meanwhile, Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei ordered armed forces to prepare for any attack on Saturday. He warned that any US or Israeli strike would face a geographically unrestricted response.
