Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw visited BEML's Aditya plant to inspect the production of the B28 high-speed trainset.
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw visited BEML's Aditya plant in Bengaluru on Sunday to review the manufacturing of the B28 bullet trainset, according to The Indian Express.
The minister inspected various production stages, including carbody fabrication, underframe, sidewall, and roof assembly. He also examined passenger seats, the Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) system, and couplers.
The B28, or Bharat-made bullet trainset, has a design speed of 280 kmph, though the Ministry of Railways stated it will run at an operational speed of 250 kmph in the initial phase.
BEML was awarded a contract in October 2024 by Chennai-based Integral Coach Factory to design, manufacture, and commission two high-speed trainsets. Each trainset will comprise eight cars, with the total contract value at Rs 866.87 crore.
The Ministry of Railways plans to launch the first bullet train service on the 97-km Surat-Vapi stretch of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Corridor, targeting August 2027 for operations.
Once ready, the trainset will be transported to the Surat depot for testing and trial runs by the National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited before commercial use.
