Goa police and tourism department tighten safety measures for peak season

Authorities are coordinating with hospitality and nightlife sectors to focus on CCTV, fire safety, and fraud prevention ahead of the winter season.

Goa police and the tourism department are increasing coordination with hotels, clubs, and restaurants to prepare for the Diwali holidays and the winter tourism season, according to Urban Acres.

Director General of Police Alok Kumar held a meeting with tourism officials and hospitality sector representatives to discuss safety and operational requirements.

The meeting addressed the installation of CCTV systems, fire-safety compliance, and the marking of entry and exit points at establishments.

Kumar said the safety of every individual in Goa, including visitors, is a priority for the police.

The police also urged businesses to follow noise restrictions and remain alert to illegal activities or suspicious incidents.

Authorities highlighted the need to prevent online hotel-booking fraud and asked businesses to help protect visitors from scams.

Kumar stated that security is not the responsibility of law enforcement alone and that businesses must maintain safety infrastructure and ensure responsible staff conduct.
