The awards recognise excellence in intelligence and investigation work, including the dismantling of transnational drug cartels using the darknet.

Four police officials from Tamil Nadu and the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) have been selected for the Kendriya Grihmantri Dakshata Padak 2026, according to The New Indian Express.

The union home affairs ministry announced the awardees on Saturday, which coincided with Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, the 151st birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

Among the recipients from the Tamil Nadu Police are Madhu Kumari, IPS, the SP and commandant of the Tamil Nadu Special Police (TSP) VI Battalion in Madurai, and V Satish Kumar, IPS, the SP of Tiruvarur district.

The NCB Chennai zone awardees include additional director P Aravindhan, IPS, and sub-inspector Jubin Sam.

The NCB stated that these officers were recognised for their work in identifying and breaking up transnational drug cartels that used cryptocurrencies and the darknet for their operations.

The bureau noted that the Chennai zone had disrupted two large darknet-linked drug cartels in 2026 and one in 2025.
