Delhi traffic diversions expected for INDIA bloc rally on November 1
Police have issued a traffic advisory for Central and West Delhi ahead of the protest at Ramlila Maidan.
The Delhi Traffic Police have announced traffic regulations and diversions across parts of the capital on November 1 due to an INDIA bloc rally at Ramlila Maidan. According to Mint, the rally is being held to protest against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls.
In Central Delhi, traffic movement may be regulated from 10 am to 5 pm. Key diversion points include Netaji Subhash Marg, Ranjeet Singh Flyover, Rajghat, and the Delhi Gate area. Commuters may face congestion on several stretches, including Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg and Aruna Asaf Ali Road.
West Delhi will also see changes from 9 am to 3 pm on Sunday because of a proposed padyatra. This march is expected to move from the Hari Nagar DTC depot on Jail Road to the Tilak Nagar Metro station. Police noted that both sides of Jail Road between Lajwanti Chowk and Tilak Nagar might be closed depending on the situation.
While the rally at Ramlila Maidan has received a no-objection certificate, the Free Press Journal reported that Delhi Police have not granted permission for a proposed march from the Connaught Place-Minto Road junction. Rahul Gandhi had invited supporters to join a procession from Minto Road at 12 noon, but police stated no application for such a march has been received.
The INDIA bloc has demanded the resignation of Gyanesh Kumar. According to Outlook, the group previously postponed a symbolic impeachment of the CEC due to rainfall and waterlogging at the residence of Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge.
