PM Modi references Rahul Gandhi's remark during Gujarat speech

Prime Minister Narendra Modi mentioned Rahul Gandhi's 2017 comment while addressing a gathering in Banaskantha district.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi referenced a 2017 comment by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi regarding turning potatoes into gold during a speech in Bhildi, Gujarat. According to The New Indian Express, the Prime Minister was speaking in the Banaskantha district.

Modi stated that the farmers of Banaskantha are already converting potatoes into gold through their labour. He added that the potatoes grown in the region have gained worldwide fame.

The Prime Minister spoke about the agricultural changes in the district, noting that Banaskantha has become a significant hub for potato production. He attributed this shift to the use of modern irrigation methods, such as drip irrigation.

Modi also credited the presence of Narmada water for the transformation of the local agricultural landscape.
