Delhi factory fire: Four killed and two injured in Mangolpuri shoe factory
According to The Hindu, several workers escaped the blaze after making different decisions regarding their dinner shifts.
Four people died and two were injured during a fire at a shoe factory in northwest Delhi on Friday night, October 30, 2026, according to The Hindu.
Vijay, a worker at the Mangolpuri factory for nearly 20 years, escaped the incident after deciding to skip a scheduled night shift to sleep at home.
He said he had returned home for dinner and did not feel like going back for the second part of his double shift.
The fire claimed the life of Harihar Chaurasiya, who stayed at the factory to eat dinner brought by his 12-year-old son.
His co-worker, Putan Chaurasiya, escaped because he had gone home to eat dinner at a location 500 metres away.
Another victim, 25-year-old Ashok, died after choosing to eat dinner from a nearby hotel inside the factory while other co-workers went out to eat.
