Vigilance finds more Travancore Devaswom Board employees involved in Sabarimala ghee scam

The investigation revealed that transport contractor S.S. Binu allegedly distributed ₹20 lakh among employees from the proceeds of stolen ghee sales.

A Vigilance team investigating the Sabarimala ghee scam has discovered that several Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) employees were involved in the fraud, according to The Hindu.

The investigation found that a portion of the money from the sale of stolen ghee was shared among these employees. The prime accused, transport contractor S.S. Binu, allegedly distributed ₹20 lakh to TDB staff as their share.

Binu is accused of masterminding the scam and facilitating the diversion of the ghee. He reportedly received ₹50 lakh from selling 11,000 kg of stolen Milma ghee to two companies in Tamil Nadu.

TDB employee Jayalal, who works in the office of the ghee store superintendent, was arrested in connection with the case. Vigilance officials stated that Jayalal helped fabricate records to falsely show that the Milma ghee had been delivered to Sabarimala.

The Vigilance has increased its probe to identify all individuals who received money. Meanwhile, the TDB cancelled a tender submitted by a trader allegedly linked to the scam and has invited fresh bids.
