Aga Ruhullah exit will not impact NC or Omar government, says Rana

Mendhar MLA Javed Ahmed Rana claimed the National Conference remains united despite the impending resignation of Srinagar MP Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi.

Cabinet minister Javed Ahmed Rana on Saturday claimed that the exit of National Conference (NC) Srinagar MP Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi will not affect the party or the government led by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.

According to the Hindustan Times, Mendhar MLA Rana made these remarks in Jammu after visiting Shiv Market near the Jammu Railway Station. Mehdi is set to resign from the party and the Lok Sabha on November 3.

Rana stated that if Mehdi decides to leave, he will leave alone and the party will remain united. He added that the NC remains strong under the leadership of Dr Farooq Abdullah.

The MLA also claimed there are no internal differences within the party following the recent cabinet expansion. He said the government under Omar Abdullah remains strong like a rock.

However, Rana admitted that some party MLAs might feel disappointed after not being included in the council of ministers. He noted that every MLA wants to be a minister but there is a limitation to cabinet strength.

Rana expressed hope that statehood would be restored soon, which he said would allow for more ministers to be appointed.
