Janice Tjen and Magda Linette reach Chennai Open final

The Indonesian top seed and the third-seeded Pole secured victories on Saturday to set up a singles final at the WTA 250 event.

Janice Tjen and Magda Linette will face each other in the singles final of the WTA 250 Chennai Open after winning their respective semifinal matches on Saturday, according to Sportstar.

The top-seeded Indonesian Janice Tjen defeated USA's Robin Montgomery 6-3, 6-4 at the SDAT Stadium in Nungambakkam. Tjen, the World No. 75, recorded her ninth consecutive win at the venue.

Tjen noted that playing with firecrackers bursting in the background was difficult as players are used to quiet environments. She said the supervisor informed her about the fireworks in advance, which helped her try to tune out the noise.

Magda Linette secured a 2-6, 6-2, 6-3 victory over Russia's Anastasia Zakharova to join Tjen in the final. Linette, the third-seeded former World No. 19, won the match in one hour and 55 minutes.

Zakharova, the World No. 107, took the first set through aggressive play but lacked the consistency to continue her comeback. Linette used the pace of Zakharova's shots to redirect the ball into vacant corners during the second and third sets.
