New Jersey supermarket donates $30,000 lottery bonus to food bank
Wegmans Food Market in Montvale will give its retailer bonus to the Community FoodBank of New Jersey after selling the winning Powerball ticket.
A supermarket in Montvale, New Jersey, sold the winning ticket for an $847 million Powerball jackpot on Wednesday, 4 November 2026, according to the Times of India.
The winning ticket was sold at Wegmans Food Market in Bergen County via a self-service terminal on Tuesday morning, according to store manager Nick Tassi. The jackpot win ended a run of 35 drawings without a winner.
Wegmans will donate its $30,000 retailer bonus to the Community FoodBank of New Jersey through its Check Out Hunger campaign. The supermarket confirmed it will not keep the bonus money.
New Jersey Lottery Commission Chair Ian Leonard issued an official statement saying, "Congratulations to our newest New Jersey winner."
The jackpot is the ninth-largest in Powerball history. The winner can choose between an annuity of $847 million paid over 29 years or an immediate cash payment of $363.1 million before taxes.
As of Thursday afternoon, no one had claimed the prize. Under a 2020 New Jersey law, winners can keep their identities private indefinitely. Winners in the state have up to one year from the draw date to claim prizes.
