Revanth Reddy accuses KTR of driving sister out of family home

The Telangana Chief Minister alleged that BRS working president K Taraka Rama Rao was unwilling to share family property with his sister.

Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Sunday accused Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K Taraka Rama Rao, also known as KTR, of driving his sister out of their family home. Addressing a meeting of women Self Help Group (SHG) members in his Kodangal constituency, Reddy alleged that KTR was unwilling to share family property with her, according to The Indian Express.

The Chief Minister referred to K Kavitha, who launched the Telangana Rakshana Samithi (TRS) after splitting from the BRS, noting she served a jail term for over five months in 2024 regarding the Delhi liquor policy case. Reddy questioned KTR's ability to speak on women's welfare, stating that KTR should have taken care of his sister when she returned home after facing cases and serving jail time.

Reddy also criticised BRS national president K Chandrashekar Rao, known as KCR, stating that as a father, he failed to advise his son to take care of his sister. He remarked that a person who cannot teach good to his own family members cannot be trusted to do good for the four crore people of Telangana.

During the event, the Chief Minister announced that the government will launch the second phase of free 'Indiramma' saree distribution on November 19, marking the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. He also launched the Cheyutha pension scheme for 4.5 lakh new beneficiaries, including 3.5 lakh new pensions for single women and widows.

Reddy noted that the number of SHG members has risen to 70 lakh from approximately 60 lakh in December 2023. He stated the government aims to extend this number to 1 crore by 2034.
